Ushering Procedures

(please read before signing up)

Usher sign-up sheets are available outside the box office (C-120) in the back Theatre hallway. Sign-up to usher by selecting the date and time you choose to usher and entering your name, email, course and instructor information in the space provided. You must provide a valid email so that we can confirm your attendance 48 Hours prior to the performance. If you do not confirm your attendance within 48 hours of the performance, the box office reserves the right to replace you and you will not receive credit.

1.  Any student may sign up to usher.  Do not add your name if a slot does not exist.  We only need a specific amount ushers per show.  No more.

2.  Please check your calendar to ensure the date/time you sign up for fits in your schedule.

3.  Be on time!!!  If you are not at the front desk, checked in and ready to go at the assigned time (45 minutes prior to the start of the show), you will be replaced and you will not receive any lab credit.  If you sign up and do not show up, are late (see #4) or dressed inappropriately (see #5), you will not be allowed to do any lab credits in the Box Office for the next two productions.

4.  Show up at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the show.  If the performance starts at 8 PM, you need to be checked in and ready to work no later than 7:15 PM.  If you sign up for a 2:15 PM show, you need to be checked in and ready to work no later than 1:30 PM.  Tardiness is not accepted!!!

5.  Wear nice clothes (business casual is fine).  If you show up in jeans, cut-offs, a t-shirt, barefoot, (anything too casual), you will be turned away.  This includes blue jean skirts, shirts and jackets.  If you have questions in this regard, please contact the Box Office Manager before arriving to the performance.  ddmiles@collin.edu or 972 516-5076

6.  You are greeting the public and therefore need to have a positive and professional attitude at all times while ushering.

7.  In exchange for ushering, you will receive one complimentary ticket to a different performance of that production.  Ushering is an important responsibility, and you must remain focused on that responsibility throughout the entirety of the performance at which you have signed up to usher.

8.  You will have duties assigned to you during Intermission.  If you disappear during Intermission you will not receive lab credit.

9.  You will need to stay after the show and clean up the seating area before you leave.  Participating in the clean up is an
     important ushering task.

10. Upon completion of ushering at a performance, you will be given a voucher to take to your instructor.  This voucher will serve as your proof that you have successfully completed the noted number of lab hours.  The Box Office Manager maintains full authority to determine "success."  Thus, student ushers who do not complete their assigned tasks may not receive a voucher.  Please treat this as you would a professional job.
