Valecia Sarmento

Valecia
Sarmento is a professional Makeup Designer.
She has worked on numerous television programs such as Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, Barney and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
Two of those programs won Emmy Awards for Makeup.
Her numerous feature film credits include Miss Congeniality starring
Sandra Bullock, A Life Less Ordinary with Cameron Diaz and Ewan
McGregor, Still Holding On: The Cadillac Jack Story, The Ticket starring
Shannen Doherty, Unabomber: The True Story, The Trojan Horse, 20,000
Leagues Under the Sea, The Touch (for which she received a Sundance
Film Festival Honorable Mention award for Best Makeup), Holiday in
Your Heart starring Bernadette Peters and LeAnn Rimes, and Disney's Wish
Upon a Star. Her most
recent projects include work on the Emmy Award winning television series
Alias and the feature film The Alamo, starring Dennis
Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Jason Patric.
Valecia is the owner and lead artist for V-Makeup Studios. Valecia
jumped into her career training in 1988 attending cosmetology school
while studying the sciences in chemistry and human biology. Upon
completing a Human Biology/ Pre-Med degree, Valecia chose to shift gears
towards the arts where she actively pursued her training for Film and
TV, specializing in design and character development. Her studies in
Pre-Med and Paramedic training continues to help her tremendously when
doing special makeup effects with monsters and gore. Valecia has
been the department head of various vanity departments (focusing on
Makeup) since 1994 and has found success in her chosen field. Throughout
her career, Valecia has had the opportunity to work with many great
actors and models including Christie Brinkley, Shannen Doherty, Chuck
Norris, Robert Redford, Alicia Keys, Beyonce Knowles, Mark McGrath and
Clint Black. She has received several honorable mentions for Best Makeup
at film festivals all over the world, including Sundance Film Festival,
New York Film Critics and South X Southwest. Valecia
does it all: feature films, independent films, movies of the week,
episodic television, music videos, commercials, corporate and industrial
videos and print work for adverts and editorials. Not being limited to
television and film, Valecia’s work has also been featured in
magazines like Vogue, Glamour and Maxim as well as
yearly calendars for Muscle Mag Swimsuit and Playboy.
