Thomas
began his collegiate career at Collin, where he performed in
numerous productions including: Terra Nova, The Man Who Came to
Dinner, Stefanie Hero (for which he received an Irene Ryan
nomination & the Best Actor Award), Baby: A Musical, Search for
Signs of Intelligent Life In the Universe, Execution of Justice (for
which he received an award for Outstanding Graphic Design), The
Foreigner (which earned him a second Irene Ryan nomination & the
award for Best Supporting Actor), Stand-Up
Tragedy (1996 Kennedy Center ACTF
National Award winner), and The House of Blue
Leaves. Thomas
completed his undergraduate degree at Texas Woman’s University.
While at TWU, he discovered the joys of technical theatre,
directing and teaching.
Thomas formerly taught on the faculty at Flower Mound High School. Flower Mound HS won the 2005 3rd Place 5A title
at the State U.I.L. One Act Play Contest in Austin, with their
production of Into the Woods. Thomas left his
career as a theatre educator in 2006. He is now entering his 3rd year
as an MFA student at Southern Methodist University in stage design with
a double emphasis on set design and costume design.
He is assisting on the technical build for the Broadway musical Shrek,
and he is assistant designing a new musical at La Jolla Playhouse.
Thomas is the 2008 recipient of the National Partners of the American
Theatre Award for Design Excellence. |
