Brad Baker IMD Registry

Chair of Theatre

Brad Baker was honored as the United States Professor of the Year (CASE/Carnegie Foundation, 2000).  In 2001 he was honored as the Theatre Educator of the Year in the State of Texas by the Texas Educational Theatre Association.  Prior to his appointment as Chair of Theatre at Collin, Brad taught at such institutions as the University of Maryland, Louisiana State University, Northern Kentucky University, Chadron State College and Central Wyoming College.  He serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Creative Work, and he is an editorial consultant for the Internet Movie Database.  Brad has directed or performed in more than fifty professional productions across the country, including national touring companies of ANNIE and CAROUSEL.  He served as an artistic associate for the Broadway company of Mbongeni Ngema's Tony Award nominated musical play, SARAFINA!  Brad's film credits include roles in Broadcast News, Barry Levinson's Avalon, Coal Miner's Daughter, and with Johnny Depp in John Waters' Cry-Baby.  The two credits he most wants to "hide" are his role as a psycho beach murderer in the straight-to-video thriller By Love Possessed; and as a Frog Guard in the forgettable action picture Hell Comes To Frogtown.  Brad is also an accomplished composer and playwright; he is the co-composer, with Deborah Evans Peer, of the country-western musical TOOTSIE'S ORCHID LOUNGE, and his dramatic scripts include stage adaptations of Bram Stoker's DRACULA, Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Alexandre Dumas' THE THREE MUSKETEERS, and Anthony Burgess' A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.  Brad is represented by Terra Nova Entertainment, Inc. TerraNovaEnt@yahoo.com.

Note:  Brad "appeared" on the 58th Tony Awards Ceremony at Radio City Music Hall!  Click here to watch a video tape of the show.  (Brad can been seen as Alfred Molina enters the theatre.  Look near his left elbow!)
