RENT
is
a rock opera with music and
lyrics by Jonathan Larson; based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème.
The Pulitzer prize winning
musical tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and
musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side
in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of
HIV/AIDS. The musical was one of the longest running shows on Broadway,
and has been called “the voice of the current generation.”
Directed by Brad Baker & Mark Mullino (The
Rocky Horror Puppet Show), with choreography by Paula Morelan (Big
River). March 3-13, 2011. John Anthony Theatre.
Note:
This production replaces the previously announced premiere of The
Rhythm of the Night. That production has been delayed so that
we can partner on the project with composer Diane Warren.
