Who:   The Collin Theatre Center in Plano.

What:   U.S. DRAG by Gina Gionfriddo.  Winner of the Blackburn Prize.  Regional Premiere.  Directed by Gail Cronauer.  Click here to view excerpts from the script.

Seeking:   Casting 4 men and 4 women, plus understudies.

When:   Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Open call between 6:00-9:00 PM.  Callbacks will be Wednesday, August 25 from 7:00-10:00 PM.
 

Where:   The John Anthony Theatre, on the campus of Collin College, Jupiter Road, between Spring Creek Parkway and Parker Road. (I-75 N, exit Spring Creek Pkwy-East, R on Jupiter, L into campus)  Click here for a detailed map.
Call:   Open Call.  NO APPOINTMENTS WILL BE ARRANGED.

Prepare:   A one-minute monologue in the style of the play or characters. Non-dramatic or original work is acceptable as is material excerpted from U.S Drag. All actors are expected to go to www.collintheatrecenter.com to view excerpts from the play and become familiar with the characters OR to read the entire script which can be purchased via Amazon.com. Rehearse:   Rehearsals begin Friday, August 27.  NOTE: THIS WILL BE AN UNUSUAL REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: August 27-September 12, Friday, 7-11 PM, Saturday, 11-6 PM, Sunday, 12-7PM; September 14- October 1, ADD Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7 – 10 PM. October 2 – 6, tech and dress schedule TBA.
 
Shows:   U.S. DRAG will be performed on the campus of Collin College in Plano.  Performances are October 7 - 17, 2010.  Evening performances are at 8:00 PM.  Weekend matinee performances are at 2:15 PM.
 

Plot:   Recent college grads Angela and Allison move to NYC to find money and happiness NOW. They shun low-paying jobs, hit the clubs and make strange new “friends,” including a socially inept Wall Street broker, a young man drawn to crime victims, a crime victim, a man determined to prevent more people from becoming crime victims and the celebrated author of a fictional memoir. Critics have called it, "Jet-black comedy... A witty, intellectually engaging exploration of what it means to make one's way in the world... lighthearted, but never shallow…a kick-ass play.”
